Global Diabetes Inequity

This post is part of a series of opinion pieces in diverse mediums focusing on the theme “What can we do to address inequities in Global Health?” These submissions are by McGill students who were part of the course PPHS 511 Fundamentals of Global Health in Fall 2022.

This episode will explore global inequities in diabetes treatment and what we can do to address this inequity. We will be joined by Dr. Ananya Banerjee, who is an expert on the topic.

Kathleen Morden is a recent graduate of McGill University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology. She will be continuing her studies in the fall, where she will pursue a Master’s degree in Epidemiology. Kathleen hopes to work in Canada’s public health sector, and contribute to the betterment of the health of her community.

Molly Feffer is a recent graduate of McGill University’s Faculty of Science, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Anatomy & Cell Biology and Psychology. She is passionate about all topics related to physical and mental health, as well as how equity and social justice relate to these fields. Molly hopes to continue her studies in a discipline where she can make a positive impact on healthcare outcomes for people from all walks of life.
